Bombylius mexicanus - female

Bombylius mexicanus - Female
Allardville; Route 11 south of Allardville at start of road into abandoned airfield, Gloucester County, New Brunswick, Canada
June 19, 2013
Nectaring at flowering Labrador Tea at roadside in treed boggy area. This must be B. mexicanus?

Moved
Yes, this is B. mexicanus. This species is under-recorded from NB - I only have 3 records from the province, although I haven't examined all of the local museum collections.

Moved from Bombylius.

Thanks!
Thanks very much, Joel. There was a bit of discussion about the status of this species in NB at BirdingNewBrunswick:

B. mexicanus
Thanks for the link, Stuart. The records I have are 2 from Kouchibouguac (from the CNC) and 1 collected by John Klymko in the Meduxnekeag Valley. As far as I know it isn't picky about habitat, so I would expect it to be found across most of the province between those localities.
