Hentzia mitrata? - Hentzia mitrata - Male
Beavercreek, Greene County, Ohio, USA
June 4, 2013
My daughter and I found this spider when we were releasing a large spider found inside our house, and this little Salticid jumped onto her leg. It moved by leaping from grass blade to grass blade in our lawn.

Thank you
for the ID, Chad. Is this a male or a female?

Male
See the guide page for female appearance.

Thank you yet again
for sexing my Salticid, Chad. I was confused because the link under "Internet References" on the Info page Female returns a 404 Not Found error, and perusing the Images finds many photos which are not sexed. Now that I pay attention only to photos which are sexed, I see that the female appearance is quite distinct from the male.

Edit: Thanks to John VanDyk for fixing the link (it now points at the original image in the Wayback Machine at archive.org).

Moved
Moved from ID Request. This is definitely Hentzia, and probably H. mitrata. I'll move it here for now.
