Cork-lid trapdoor spider? - Sphodros rufipes

Cork-lid trapdoor spider? - Sphodros rufipes
Lafayette, Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, USA
June 23, 2013
Size: 2.8cm
dark, large bodied spider, found at the base of an oak tree, inside a silken sleeve of webbing about 10 inches long. had large palps, with VERY sharp points. my specimen has a reddish tint to its abdomen, but appears to be very close to the Family Ctenizidae, and possibly Ummidia, but hoping for confirmation, or clarification.
thanks,
b
