I photographed this fly on Common Milkweed. I went through the horse flies but there didn't seem to be a good match. Thanks for looking.

Stratiomyidae: probably Odontomyia cincta
Stratiomyidae: probably Odontomyia cincta...does look like a male Hedriodiscus, but H. binotatus is not known from Maryland
