Though Edna is probably right, especially considering the fact that the host plant of
Hemileuca hera
is in the area, I am only going to move this as far as the genus level. Without a ventral, or at the very least, a lateral image, I cannot be certain of the identity of this larva. Additionally, the absence of a hostlpant association makes identification especially difficult.

i think this is
Hemileuca hera - Hera Buckmoth - Hodges#7741 based on the fact that having been there I know theres sagebrush there..and the guide shows adults there in august..but it could be h. eglanterina too I suppose..maybe ryan will be able to tell us.
