While photographing these damselflies, another male showed up and tried to grasp the male behind the head.

here
(start typing Amphiagron into species and you can cycle through all three maps) lists this as Amphiagrion intermediate - interesting! Sounds as though more work needs to be done on the genus to understand the midwestern ones

That far east in Nebraska, we would guess
you have the Eastern Red, but don't know the ranges for certain.

Thanks.
I was thinking Amphiagrion, but all the images I could find here show sexual dimorphism that doesn't seem to be present here. I wondered if I was completely on the wrong track.
