Weevil - Otiorhynchus sulcatus

Weevil - Otiorhynchus sulcatus
La Grande, Union County, Oregon, USA
June 27, 2013
Size: ~10mm
We picked about a dozen of these from John's sister's strawberry patch in southwest La Grande, and figured they were going to be strawberry root weevils but they're fairly large. The smaller ones were about 7mm and the pronotum looks more like the black vine weevil.

Moved
Moved from Otiorhynchus.

O. sulcatus
This is Otiorhynchus sulcatus..common in synanthropic settings everywhere in the northwest (and a garden pest as well!).

Moved
They are all introduced and I don't know them that well...maybe one of our 'introduced' editors :-) will know for sure...eh Vassili :)

Moved from Beetles.
