Schizomyia species of Gall midge (flies) - Ampelomyia

Size: 4.5mmø x 13mm
These galls were identified as belonging to Schizomyia gall midges. They were found on young grape leaves. They most likely belong to Schizomyia viticola or the Grape Tube Gallmaker also known as Cecidomyia viticola. Without the adult fly, a more complete identification would be impossible.
