Eristalis obscura ? - Eristalis obscura - Female
Anderson Settlement, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada
July 3, 2013
In vegetation along wetland drainage ditch in treed bog. I believe I'm seeing quite a few E. obscura among hordes of E. dimidiata and a few E. arbustorum in this habitat. Yellow ground colour of face (visible in very center of face just below antenna); colour of antenna; shape of stigma; dark wing markings, whitish basal tarsomeres on hind tarsi - these things point to E. obscura using the Ontario Syrphidae guide. Am I overlooking something??
