Black Saddlebags Pair - Tramea lacerata - male - female

Black Saddlebags Pair - Tramea lacerata - Male Female
San Antonio area, Bexar County, Texas, USA
September 27, 2006
This is a first for me and actually only the second time I've been able to get close enough to a Black Saddlebags (while perched) to get any quality photos. This time I got a two for one deal . . . I found these two coupled together in what appears to be preparing for their mating wheel ritual. I was able to get a few close-up shots before they spooked and took off out of sight.
