Townes divided the eastern population into northern and southern subspecies, which were substantially sympatric. Hence, I synonymized the two. In his color description of the more northern specimens, he said that the third tergite is sometimes partially or entirely fuscous, but he didn't mention a case in which the second tergite was partially fuscous. However, given the basal coloration of the hind tibia and the agreement in other respects, I think this can't be anything other than abbreviatus iridescens.

Moved from ID Request.

Thanks!
Neat to find something a little different!
