Abablemma brimleyana? - Abablemma brimleyana

Abablemma brimleyana? - Abablemma brimleyana
Lake Texana SP, Jackson County, Texas, USA
June 13, 2013
This individual was photographed at low angle as it perched high on a wall of a facility at the state park. Jackson Co. is a bit SW of the mapped range of A. brimleyana, yet the habitat (bottomland and upland oak forest in the Lavaca-Navidad river delta) is more closely related to the SE TX forests than habitats of South Texas. Despite having double black spots on the FW, this moth seems to have no other similarity to the related Abablemma duomaculata of far South Texas. Thanks to Stuart Marcus of Trinity River NWR for pointing me in the direction of Abablemma.
