If this is an ant mimic then I have been had! There is something suspicious about those antennae. Caught sweeping dry native grasses.

It's an odd one, but yes, an ant. This is the first member of its species, genus, or subfamily posted at BG. Congratulations!

Note wing scars. This appears to be a young queen, either during or just finished pheromonally calling for a mate when captured. Otherwise, she wouldn't be above ground.
