Lyonetiidae- Leucoptera laburnella - Leucoptera laburnella

Lyonetiidae- Leucoptera laburnella - Leucoptera laburnella
Lantzville, Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
July 7, 2013
Size: 3mm
My son found this flying in the backyard and somehow managed to keep track of it while I came to get a container. He is one dedicated 5 year old.

There are 4 species in the family listed for BC. Only two of them looked close, Leucoptera laburnella and Paraleucoptera albella. UK moths and here have pictures of Leucoptera laburnella which seems to fit the best. Paraleucoptera albella here clearly has the first colour on the forewing at the costa much closer to the wing apex with a smaller white patch between the first and second coloured patch.

Leucoptera laburnella has no species page
