Efferid Robber fly - Efferia albibarbis - male

Efferid Robber fly - Efferia albibarbis - Male
Ellsworth, Sheridan County, Nebraska, USA
July 8, 2013
Size: About an inch
Found several of these sitting on the ground mid morning on a sand dune and in grass at edge of dune in the Nebraska sand hills. Female found nearby assuming the same species. She had a knife like ovipositor. Looks similar to Efferia albibarbis but the female's ovipositor was more knife like than albibarbis.

Moved
Moved from Robber Flies.

This is
a male E. albibarbis. Females should have been on the beach as well.

E. albibarbis
Yes Herschel there was a female sitting on the sand in area. Sand dunes not beach. Thanks
