Moved
First BG record from Lake States. Looks like a pine in the background; can't tell about the tree she is ovipositing in, but it would be a conifer. The host of
M. macrurus
feeds only in hardwoods.

It is in a Pine forest, but the tree she was on is a Birch.

Hmmm
That doesn't look like a birch to me; I thought the bark to suggest it might possibly be a fir. The known plant and insect associates of
M. nortoni
are listed
here
, and that is definitely
M. nortoni
.
