Glad you like it.
I use software that came with my 8 year old Canon, ArcSoft PhotoStudio 5.5. On sheet shots I often bump up the brightness to best show the moth, mostly because I don't have very good command of my external flash and camera settings. This makes the sheet too bright and distracting. What I then do is select the "bucket fill" option in the software. Next I select the color from the photo that I want for the background, usually a lighter tone from what is already there. Then I bucket fill the large areas of similar color all with the same color. It has a slider bar to select the sensitivity so it doesn't grab tones that are on the moth. Then I "paintbrush" over areas that "bucket fill" missed with the same color to clean it up. Takes some trial and error but I sometimes like the results. I imagine PaintShop and other softwares have a similar features.

Yes, I have something
similar, i'm not sure I can set the sensitivity. Lots of work! thanks again

My first impression is 8507
I can see Metalectra edilis in this one but I need to do some more looking around first.

I like this one better.
Metalectra miserulata - 8506. I did some heavy editing of your photo and it looks very good for this one. I can email or Facebook you the edited photo, or add it here, if you'd like to see and/or use it. I will delete the photo from my hard drive when we're done with it.

Thanks, Randy
If you can just replace this one here, that would be fine. Are you an editor? If not, put it up on fb, I can grab it there
