Fly, bee mimic - Merodon equestris - male

Fly, bee mimic - Merodon equestris - Male
Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA
June 9, 2013

Moved
Moved from Syrphid Flies.

Although Mallota has similar wing veination (open cell r1, sinuous R4+5 vein), the facial swelling on Mallota is further down the face. Merodon like this fly have the swelling below the antennal base. Nice fly!

Moved from ID Request.

Wait,
for an expert, but I am thinking Narcissus bulb fly - Merodon equestris.
