Black-spotted prominent - Dasylophia anguina

Black-spotted prominent - Dasylophia anguina
John's Prairie, Allamakee County, Iowa, USA
July 12, 2013
Size: 2.5 cm
Hill prairie of grasses and forbs with lots of cedar trees.

I really dislike getting larvae, any kind, in a sweep net. They are often damaged and I don't know what plant they were eating. Usually I put them back into the surrounding vegetation but this one was so distinctive that I thought there might be a good chance someone could ID it. I did thumb through Wagner's books but didn't see it.

Thanks very much.
