Melyridae
A soft-winged flower beetle, a male, in the genus collops. Kind of like the image below:

Following your suggestion of Collops ,
I found it on bugguide under Collops bipuctatus the Two-spotted Melyrid beetle.

I'm glad I could be of help... That was a good photo as well, usually Bug guide prefers to have a full dorsal image to make an insect easier to ID, for future reference...
