Is this the caterpillar of a moth? If so what kind, please? If not what is it?I found it on Verbesina alternifolia.

It looks like the kind of critter that might curl up a leaf,
so check for any leaves that are rolled or tied up. Not sure - that's just a guess. Hope you find some

I often inspect curled leaves, and I'll check more closely!

Any chance you can raise this one??
We have a bunch of images in the guide, but no ID. Did we say "Pretty please"??? Great that you know the plant!

 
I sure would like to try but,
the critter didn't stay on the leaf. I went back to the park this morning and to the exact spot where I had taken photos yesterday. The wheel bug and stink bugs were still there but no cat. And yes, I checked under all the leaves. Many of the leaves have been chewed by something(s). I'll keep looking and let you know if I find it. I visit the park almost daily, and I'll check the Wingstem as well as the Yellow Crownbeard wherever I find any.
