I'm thinking Hyperaspis too
It's a genus in subfamily Scymninae but the BG taxonomy lists hide it pretty well.
Although it is explanate like Chilocorus spp., the shape is longer and narrower; the scutellum is more prominent; the head seems more finely-punctate; and though only a little bit of the eyes are showing, I'm definitely seeing hyperaspine blue there.
It looks like it's in the Hyperaspis signata group, based on the solid black pronotum and head (it's a female, and similarly-patterned females in other Hyperaspis groups usually have white markings on the pronotum).
Of the "two-spot" species in this group, it can't be H. pistillata, which only occurs along the East Coast. It looks more like H. conviva than H. signata, based on the more elongate shape and what looks like dorsoventral flattening (I'd need a lateral photo to say for sure). I can't say for sure from this photo, though.

Thanks for asking
I WAS sure, until you asked.... :)
I looked through Scymninae and didn't see anything similar, but what do you think about Hyperaspis? I really appreciate your help and comments.
