Explanation of Names
The species is named in honor of Mr. Henry Ramstadt of Chicago, who collected the type specimen in Florida.

Lafontaine & Schmidt (2010) listed 29 species of the genus
Hypena in America north of Mexico.

Wyatt (1967) listed the forewing length of the holoytpe ♀ as 15 mm.

Heppner (2003) reported the range to include Georgia, and Florida to southern Texas.

Holotype ♀ collected 5 miles northeast of Cleveland, Charlotte County, Florida, 18-IV-1953, Mr. Henry Ramstadt.

The adults are most common from March to June, and October.

Wyatt (1967) did not describe the immature stages or list a host plant.
