Igor Sokolov suggested Anatrichis minuta...
...a perfect match with the TAMUIC specimens i just checked

thanks for the addition, Bob.

Moved from Seed-Eating Ground Beetles.

Not Anatrichis minuta,
rather still Amara in my opinion. I have a good example of Anatrichis minuta from OK which from a distance shows dorsum uniformly black (not nearly rufous pronotum), dullish luster because dorsum is uniformly covered with dense punctulae. Also minuta should have stronger straightish narrowing of pronotum anteriad. Easy of course to distinguish Amara from oodines when studied closeup.

Definitely Anatrichis, in my opinion.
The minuta I've seen from VA look exactly like this too.

I will revisit this
by examining my own ex fr OK.

Re-examining my Indicotype for Anatrichus minuta
does indeed confirm what people already knew, thus proving that I'm now smarter than 6 months ago!

One of the nice things about BG:
Having a trail of comments following along on one's learning progress. I've had to revisit plenty of my early eager comments around here..

looks cool
diaphanous prothorax & elytral margin are quite intriguing; could this be an oodine rather?

Amara
is good a start.
