Texas Beetle ID Please - Diabrotica balteata? - Diabrotica balteata

Size: c. 5mm-7mm

Observed perched on leaf of Hedychium coronarium (Butterfly Ginger) grooming itself. Single individual - no others found.

Have looked through most of the beetle photos on this site as well as Mike Quinn's Texas Entomology site; and simply I am stumped.

Update 07/18/13: Think I found it.

by Ron Hemberger submitted 10/18/08 from Orange County, CA: "Banded Cucumber Beetle, Lightly Marked" - seems exact match.

Not sure how common the pattern is.

I don't see many of these. I tend to post some stuff that is a bit out of the ordinary so others with similarly affected insects can key off mine. Glad it worked here. The Toxomerus marginatus syrphid flies are often oddly marked, ranging from almost no pattern on the orange background to a very dense brown overall and almost imperceptible pattern.
