This spider with its prey was on basin wildrye in a relatively dry grassland habitat.

We looked for the black caterpillar
with purple marks you talked about last night, but don't see it in your file. Will look some more

John,It must not have loaded for some reason the first try. It is hard to get an ID when the photo doesn't show up :-( I actually did it this time. Thanks for the nudge.

I think
this might be a female Phidippus purpuratus or the similar P. borealis.
