I found this on a sandy trail in deciduous woods, already dead. The carcass did not show any signs of scavenging so perhaps had only recently died. Lots of leafy spurge in the area.

Thanks for the confirmation on genus. At least I was on the right track!

This is probably H. euphorbiae based on your location and the proximity of the host plant. But this dead, discolored larva makes it difficult for me to rule out other Hyles sp..
