Dragonfly -
Libellula incesta
-
Canton, Cherokee County, Georgia, USA
June 20, 2013
If someone could at least point me to the right genus on this one, that would be helpful. But if you know the species too, that would be nice to know.

23777 has a whiter face
and more white on the sides of the thorax. Best to wait for Nick Block.

The face
Well, if it's one thing I've learned from this it is that it is important to get a picture of the face if possible! Thanks for your help.

Genus is easy - Libellula
species is harder - maybe incesta, young male.
But wait to hear what Nick thinks.

Maybe not
Ok, I found a picture on this very site from 2005 that is very similar and it was identified as a juvenile L. vibrans.
http://bugguide.net/node/view/23777/bgimage
