Active red mite - Erythraeus

Active red mite - Erythraeus
Billy Goat Hill Park, San Francisco County, California, USA
July 20, 2013
Size: 2 mm
Found running actively on the trail. I think this is an adult? Maybe Erythraeidae?

I'm not really sure what the important taxonomic characters are - let me know and I can take photos of other areas.

Thanks for sending the specimen! I was able to immediately determine the genus, and as I suspected... it appears to be a new species. I am trying to work out the taxonomy of this group for the US and will let you know when I get more information.

And nice ID! I am researching these for my PhD and could use specimens. Would you be willing to part with it and send it to me?
