not sure if it is this mite, but
see page 382 of Tracks and Signs of Insects and Other Invertebrates [url]http://bugguide.net/node/view/359486[\url]. It may also be known as Aceria theospyri or possibly Aceria diospyri. Search at books.google.com for theospyri.

Aceria diospyri is different
It feeds on the surface of persimmon fruits.
