This individual was brought in July 16 on maple leaves from a nearby park to supply some Polyphemus moth caterpillars. It actually escaped and lived for a few days in the pleated blinds in my room before I actually discovered it. I've been feeding it various small Lepidoptera, Orthoptera, Diptera, Heteroptera, and Auchenorrhyncha, both live and freshly frozen, supplemented with fried egg yolk; they seem to be exclusively carnivorous and only bite into plant matter when creating their silken shelters in which they hide during the day.

This species is not uncommon where I live; they are simply extremely sensitive to light. In fact, I've since found three more individuals at night, resting on low-hanging leaves. Unlike other nocturnal insects, which rarely react when a light is shone on them, these crickets will noticeably flinch and flee in panic. This individual has been acclimating to the sudden switching on of houselights and other disturbances in captivity, so I was able to snap a quick photo of it just now.
