Similar species
We also have T. robinsonianus and T. linnei in our area. Although all 3 species are very similar, I do not see the characters indicating either of the 2 species mentioned above. T. linnei is typically more gracile and slightly longer winged and robinsonianus has a bisected pronotal collar (small dark vertical line)

T. winnemanna is typically a heavier built cicada than linnei and not as dark and well delineated as robinsonianus.

There is one other taxonomic issue that remains in debate. There appears to be blending between winnemanna/pruinosus and linnei in some regions. Here in the Piedmont of NC, both morphology and call characters support the notion that hybridization may occur between the aforementioned.

Tibicen winnemanna (?)
Looks to be the Eastern Scissors Grinder
These can be darker in color as in pruinosus nominate.

Common in your area and easily confused with Tibicen linnei / usually winnemanna is a bit more robust in appearance.

Tibicen resh?
I believe this is Tibicen resh due to the z on the wings but an expert will chime in soon to confirm I'm sure

T. resh is west of the MS River (except nr. Biloxi, MS)
T. resh is a western Gulf region species, but similar in appearance & about a third to half again larger.
