Genus Eupteryx
Explanation of Names
Eupteryx Curtis 1829
Numbers
~10 spp. (all in the nominate subgenus), incl. 6 adventive, in our area, ~115 spp. in 2 subgenera worldwide(1)
Range
most of the n. hemisphere(1)
Remarks
Frequently parasitized by pipunculid flies, and to a lesser extent, by dryinid wasps

The European Eupteryx aurata has multiple U.S. records, but it is likely that these are misidentifications of E. atropunctata. We're not including it here for that reason. Eupteryx artemisiae records from Massachusetts are correct, but haven't been seen for decades, so it is likely that this species did not become established.
