Triton Dagger Moth Caterpillar (Acronicta tritona) - Acronicta tritona

Triton Dagger Moth Caterpillar (Acronicta tritona) - Acronicta tritona
Petit Jean State Park, Conway County, Arkansas, USA
October 1, 2006
Size: 4-5 cm
Acronicta superans is in the guide. We are submitting what appears to be Acronicta tritona (judging by Wagner).

Looks like a good match to me
- what was it eating? Blueberry?

Low bush Huckleberry
and it was two inches from the caterpillar that first caught our eye...a Black-waved Flannel moth. There appear to be plenty of those already in the guide so we didn't submit it.
