I hope that I am correct with Fritillary, but can anybody tell what kind it is? Both pictures are from the same individual flying around our house and sitting on vegetation and hummingbird feeder

Looks like a Great spangled fritillary
an absolutely gorgeous butterfly.

Thanks for the identification. It looks like that the Great Spangles Fritilary comes in lots of different colourations. The Audubon Fieldguide shows some really dark species and one pictures shows a similar configuration than your picture, thank you!
