Spider - Dolomedes

Spider - Dolomedes
Schwenksville, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
July 26, 2013
Size: ~ 5mm (body length)
I occasionally worry that I will run out of species on my families property to shoot. Then I look to see whats right under my nose. This on didn't seem to care that I was shooting it. Oddly I thought I had already posted this one but I guess it didn't take. I found it in the shrubs in the back yard.

Dear Mogwai
Please read the last comment on this posted page and check into the book it references. I find both fascinating:

Very Cool!
Very cool! When still living in Brooklyn I tossed around the idea of getting a Masters degree in urban ecology. I still may but for now I'm happy with the several acres here in PA. It's funny how at one time I would be sooo happy just to see all the insects and spiders. I've bumped up the personal challenge to macro photography. My family has given up on grousing about all the spiders I don't kill. Now if I could just convince the neighbors I'm not completely unraveled.. I can't imagine what they must think of me constantly looking intently at the woodpiles or dead tree branches or the garage door! lol

...
I think the same thing about my neighbors!

The ultimate test of your neighbors' sanity...
...is when they watch as you let a horse fly gnaw on your arm while shooting it one-handed. Personally, I draw the line there, making me a less-than-dedicated bug shooter.

Neat
looks like a Dolomedes spiderling:

It does, doesn't it? Thanks!
