Hackberry Emperor - Asterocampa celtis - Male
Cass County, Missouri, USA
September 8, 2004
I noticed that you did not have a side view of the Hackberry Emperor...it is much easier to tell the Hackberry from the Tawny with a view of the side markings.

Moved from Hackberry Emperor.

Interesting...
Wonderful shot, & very interesting: I was able to pick up a Tawny Emperor from a compost pile, & it perched on my hand for several minutes. These species seem to be very docile (or drunk?) So I have practically the same shot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/anitagould/32392640/in/pool-butterfliesnorthamerica/
