The Battle for the Ball - Canthon floridanus

The Battle for the Ball - Canthon floridanus
near Gleeson, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
July 24, 2013
Size: about 12 mm each
The two beetles on the right were in an epic battle, each trying to drive off the other, and the third beetle, on the left, just quietly watched. This was cow dung - we found the original source-pie nearby. This was taken the day before the official start to the Bugguide Gathering 2013, but was associated with the gathering so am including it as such. gathering_2013

what a 'crappy' way to start the Gathering..
:) haha someone had to say it! :)
