Is this Eristalis stipator? Pile on the Posterior of the Callus and on the Scutellum is yellow. The Bald on Whitetop Mountain is 4000-5000 ft above sea level so it is a Canadian Zone.

This is Eristalis tenax. The stripes of darker hairs in the eye are diagnostic. These stripes are very rarely seen in photographs as the light has to be just the right angle.
