Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Size: 2 cm abdomen

male Leptophyes punctatissima --det. Piotr Naskrecki
Moved from Katydids.

A very interesting find! I'm curious what the current status of this species in North America is. It's been recorded a few times in the past, but there's no record of established populations. Worth taking a closer look at.

This is not a Meadow Katydid
I wish the photo was a bit more clear, but from what I can tell it is an adult male, probably in the Phaneropterinae. It looks a like something in the genus Leptophyes from Eurasia. Leptophyes punctatissima would seem a likely candidate.

Moved from Greater Meadow Katydids.

Moved
Moved from Grasshoppers, Crickets, Katydids. Range map in "Singing Insects of North America" does not show Lesser Pine Katydid anywhere near Ontario....so I suspect a different species.

id
