jumping plant lice - Pachypsylla celtidismamma

jumping plant lice - Pachypsylla celtidismamma
Cross Plains, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
October 4, 2006
I collected some leaves with galls on October 1 and placed them in a closed container. Today when I checked some plant lice had emerged from the galls. The louse is visible just below the leaf. There were five insects that had emerged and this was the only one that didn't survive thus making it easy to photograph. Several of the others flew off quickly before I could photograph them but I was able to get several shots of one that started out groggy but quickly revived and flew off.
