Native or Invader? - Mallophora fautrix

Native or Invader? - Mallophora fautrix
Hawthorne, Los Angeles County, California, USA
July 31, 2013
Size: About 1 1/2 inches long
The insect was not aware of my presence and was captured very easily about mid-morning. I noticed only one pair of wings (but I could be wrong) when it flew inside the container. After a short time, the insect was released. The surface is a colored concrete block wall. Since I live near Los Angeles International Airport and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, I thought the title was appropriate.
