orb weaver - Araneus diadematus

orb weaver - Araneus diadematus
Topsham, Orange County, Vermont, USA
October 3, 2006
I didn't get a measurement, but it was on the smaller size for an orb weaver.

marmoreus?
This reminds me more of A. marmoreus due to the shape of the abdomen and pattern (such as this morph), though the front legs being more plain is odd.

Reminds us more
of Larinioides, but only Jeff knows for sure ! :)

Nah! we're going to agree instead with you and Lynette. Looks like you guys have this right.

John and Jane,
I thought Larinioides at first too.

Thanks Lynette
I didn't even notice the cross until you mentioned it.

Cross Spider?
Perhaps a young cross spider?
