Did it again, moved before seeing your comment. My timing is really off today. :P I think you're right about the bands. Assuming that's a valid characteristic, I think it may be safe to keep it here for now.

We both just had it tagged at the same time. I moved it to species after having read on the info page that C. longipalpa have abdominal bands that turn upwards on the ends and C. variata are angled downwards. The last few visible bands look upturned to me compared to the C. variatas I saw in the Guide.

But the common name for us is Castianeira.
