I thought this was a Slaty Skimmer....but now I am not sure. Thanks for taking a look!

Not quite
It is slaty, and a skimmer, but this is a Seaside Dragonlet,
Erythrodiplax berenice
. The metallic blue face is pretty distinctive. Given your location, and your other photos of Needham's Skimmers, I'm guessing this and your other photos were taken in or near a salt marsh. Pretty much the only dragons that breed in salt marsh are Needham's Skimmer and Seaside Dragonlet.

Thanks for clarifying this! I have seen the male seaside dragonlet before, and in fact, just saw the female yesterday in a different area. I should have paid closer attention. Carol
