Indicates tumidus has "Venter mostly yellow or red, only prosternum black", like cacti. This is like stigma in "venter mostly black, only abdomen red or yellow".
So by that note, the underside should probably look more like this in tumidus:
However since this species is so poorly studied, it remains to be seen what is consistent.

Chilocorus tumidus - new sp. for BugGuide
C. tumidus is limited to the Mid-Atlantic US, and while it shares the transverse, squared-oblong spots of C. kuwanae, the shape is highly distinctive: the high dome I noted earlier, and a round shape overall, not tapered apically.
C. kuwanae also typically has a darker red color on the venter, not orangish-red like this.
There was something bothering me about the shape and ventral color...I'm glad I had those second thoughts and happy to admit I was wrong! This species has been on my BG coccinellid wishlist for years.

[update: this is wrong] agree with C. kuwanae
The spots are distinctly square and at the midline of the body, and the shape is more convex and explanate than C. stigma.
