Bizarre-looking Midge - Stenochironomus hilaris - female

Bizarre-looking Midge - Stenochironomus hilaris - Female
Brighton, Monroe County, New York, USA
July 29, 2013
Size: 4 mm body length
It resembles some of the Pentaneurini, but I haven't found anything quite like it at BugGuide.net or anywhere else. Note the very long forelegs, which were not used for standing. They were waving around like antennae.
