Specific epithet for the type locality, Mount Shasta, California. (2)

Walsingham (1879) listed a wingspan of 27 mm. (2), (3)

Identification

Eucosma shastana has a broader pretornal patch than Eucosma biquadrana.

The postmedian band connects to the apical spot.

The overall color is reddish-brown compared to the brown of Eucosma biquadrana.

Lectotype ♂, designated by Wright (2010), California, Siskiyou County, Mt. Shasta, 2 Aug.– 1 Sept. 1871, Walsingham, British Museum of Natural History. (4)
