Boreal caterpillar -
Spilosoma dubia
near Pinawa, Manitoba, Canada

I've looked through what books I have but have not come up with an identification. Does this look familiar to anyone? Thanks.

We have no objection to the move,
but we don't have enough knowledge to confirm the ID, sorry :(

No worries
In the interest of confirmed identification, I'll leave it where it is. I'll poke around and see if I can come up with more info or find someone who can identify it with certainty!

Spilosoma dubia?
I did find the photo in Wagner, just an hour ago, thanks for the reminder. The pattern looks good to me. Setae must be variable in colour. Any objections to my moving this?

What about Dubious Tiger Moth (Spilosoma dubia)?
I found just one photo of the caterpillar online (MPG) - think it could be a match?

caterpillar
The ascending length of the setae to the rear of the caterpillar doesn't seem right for Haploa, and the setae look genereally too full and long. I'll have to revisit the site and look for other caterpillars and hopefully find the adults, too.

Looks like it might be
one of the Haploa. Do you have a dorsal shot you can add?

Possible Haploa
I am afraid not. It was on the move at a fast clip and it got away from me before I was ready to click the shutter.
