A photo of this peregrine creature was sent to me by a colleague at random in the midst of a phone conversation which was very much removed from all things taxonomy. More than happy to punctuate the humdrum of our insipid business mutterings, I was keen to indulge her. After making all the standard box tick inquiries -whether it was taken in close proximity to any landfills, nuclear power plants, or locations of historically elevated alien sightings etc. I concluded that it must have, in it's larval stage, hitched a ride in the luggage (or bowels) of some unsuspecting gadabout globetrotter. Later on it occurred to me to make proper inquires with the professionals. You! Quid est illud?
